We are in tumultuous times of change and the Shamanic Gathering is also undergoing many changes itself. We aim to give a reassuring place to reconnect, come back in to the circle and be in community. Together we can navigate our way through this journey, for ourselves and others. To find balance, as is the role of the shaman, to keep the world in balance and to be in balance ourselves.

Sadly, we have to announce that we wont be joined this year by the Minymar Desert Women from Uluru. We have just received news that, tragically, the Elders that were coming have suffered a loss in the community and are now unable to travel to the U.K. this year as planned. We, on behalf of the U.K. Shamanic Community have sent our thoughts, prayers and support directly to them and hope they’ll be able to join us at a future date. We know some of you may be disappointed but, rest assured, our programme as planned will be fulfilling and plenty.

Leo Rutherford - The Shamans Way of Aging
Leo Rutherford, MA Holistic Psychology, 9th decade of life experience. After completing my MA (which introduced me to shamanism) while living in San Francisco, I attended many shamanic workshops, ceremonies and pilgrimages to sacred places/ tribal lands. The knowledge I gained added to and surpassed what I had learned through Psychology/ Psychotherapy. In 1986/7 I was able to continue studies with Harley Swiftdeer in England and I experienced my first trip to Peru with Alberto Villoldo and Inca shaman Eduardo Calderon. For over 35 years I have been conducting shamanic workshops and experiences in UK and abroad. Small beginnings in 1984 expanded into the first year long shamanism course in UK – 'Elements of Shamanism' - in 1987/8. Danu Forest - The Caim and the Compass
Ever since I was a very small child, I have held a deep love of spirit and have always been aware of, and able to interact with otherworldly beings, nature spirits, faeries, as well as ancestors, ghosts and other things. My first deep experiences of nature spirits in particular consciously began as a four year old when I undertook instruction by an apple tree spirit in my grandmothers back garden. This gift, I would later discover was called the ‘second sight’ or ‘Seership’, by my Celtic ancestors. By the time I was eighteen I joined an Old Craft coven, where I underwent my three initiations, emerging at twenty as a third degree priestess. During this time I studied Gardnerian and Qaballistic magic and the Northern Tradition as well as the Old Craft, but my personal studies of the Celtic traditions continued unabated and developed into a deeply earth based Celtic 'shamanic' personal practice that encompassed much of what is now considered to be the Faery faith; working closely with the powers of the land and our otherworldly cousins. I also began to work with nature spirits for healing, using old ‘cunning man’, druidic and shamanic techniques in the making of flower and vibrational essences, herbal and elemental talismans etc.
I have now been practicing for over 30 years, and while I have been teaching and offering healings and readings now for over 20 years I have continued to undertake training from a vast range of sources, from Shamanism and healing, to history archaeology and academia, including an MA in Celtic studies. Mel West is a shamanic trance dance guide and guardian who has been offering dances in Glastonbury since 2019. She has co-facilitated large dances at Buddhafield festival with Zelia Pye, with whom she completed her training in 2017, and also alongside Kalindi Jordan at She Fest. Mel is a shamanic healing practitioner and has trained in the art of creating ceremony with Glennie Kindred. Mel is passionate about re-kindling a better relationship with all life and returning to a healthy balance with each other and the earth. She worked with groups of women in the woods for many years to create meaningful celebrations of life's milestones. She believes shamanic trance dance can return people to their full power and wisdom and enable them to remember our sacred connection to each other and the land. She continues to offer dances from The Avalon Centre, Glastonbury and dreams of her allotment looking as good as it did in 2020.

Darren Curtis - Faery Spells and Crystal Energy
Those who know Darren well, will testify to his groundedness, but through his regular shamanic practice, he has developed a trust and respect for the guidance he receives from his spirit guides. As a youngster Darren was most definitely away with the faeries. But, he hadn't realised just how strong a connection he had to the Fae, until he was lovingly re-introduced to them by Howard and Elsa Malpas. Now, with the help of his Faery cousin Cecilric and two main Faery guides, Corsica and Willow, he has been guided to build a crystal grid to help raise the vibrational frequency of Gaia for the betterment of all who depend upon her.

Jane Embleton - Pilgrimaging through the Mists of Time .
Jane walks with the land and with the rivers, she delights in listening to their stories, hearing their worries and bringing the people back so that they can hear them too ! She lives on the Devon Somerset border in the Tone Valley and has walked this river from source to sea and sea to source on many occasions, and is part of a growing band of River Women. More recently she has walked the River Culm with a magical storyteller and a band pilgrims, finding the stories and making good the ending to a sad tale of loss with a re connection. She has noticed how places will so readily respond when they are intentionally included, and how it is often healing for all those involved.

Since I was a kid I have been fascinated with the landscape and its energy, particularly with the magical places which have drawn people in the past. I spent most of my younger days climbing trees hoping to to see Ley Lines. Later I studied and worked in nature conservation, geology and prehistoric archaeology spending most of my working life with the lovely energy of students. I returned to studies as a mature student and researched prehistoric stone implements, thus my excitement with tiny chips of flint! Whist living in Scotland my dear friend Doreen & I regularly attended a wonderful Shamanic Group run by Ruth Bailey and we knew that we had found our tribe. I have also trained with John & Caitlin Matthews enjoying the Celtic Shamanic work in which they specialise. On moving to Glastonbury I relished the profound experience of the Shamanic Practitioners’ course with Howard & Claudette. This course in particular has been life-changing for me.

I have been on this shamanic path for over 17 years, initially going to workshops and session before undertaking my training at Shamanka in Dorset. I am also a qualified counsellor and a member of the BACP. I have a qualification in reflexology and recently gained training in the Tuning Forks Therapy.

Linda Heard - The Journeys End, What to do about it! - I’ve always been interested in the spiritual and this has led me into some strange encounters and experiences in this reality. Finding the shamanic path has been for me a coming home and acknowledgement of who I am and what I should be doing. With an MSc in psychology and economics plus a history of work within the Church of England, I have done shamanic training at the Healing Tree Centre and with the Hallowquest organisation, and am now studying with the Annwn Foundation. I work and teach about the care of people and souls in their transition into their new reality and the clearing and cleansing of disturbed land and properties. I’ve tried to avoid this work for a very long time but, during this time of great upheaval and change in the world, I feel more awareness of this aspect of the shamanic path is desperately needed. I also take commissions for shaman’s drum bags and artwork.
Howard Malpas - 'The River of Time and Space-re-claiming the Shadow
Howard has been studying and practicing Shamanism since 1983 and during that time has realised that it is more a remembering, an ancient knowing, rather than a learning.
Howard was born in China. His opening began as a 9 year old sent to a school in Ireland. The school was organised by his first Shamanic teacher. Much time was set aside for attunement with nature. It was at this time he opened to his passion for nature and everything natural. Howard has facilitated residential and non-residential Warrior in the Heart courses since 1994, with his wife Elsa until her death in 2018. They regarded seeing the beautiful journey people are taking into themselves as a gift, they simply wanted to share what they know, and help others to empower themselves.
Howard has worked as a therapist in Psychiatric Hospitals for 22 years, in a pioneering effort to marry ancient healing practices to modern Medicine. He co-founded the UK Shamanic Gathering and is currently a Director of the C.I.C.
Howard has been studying and practicing Shamanism since 1983 and during that time has realised that it is more a remembering, an ancient knowing, rather than a learning.
Howard was born in China. His opening began as a 9 year old sent to a school in Ireland. The school was organised by his first Shamanic teacher. Much time was set aside for attunement with nature. It was at this time he opened to his passion for nature and everything natural.
